Ingress insights

COMM

Comm also got a complete revamp, it’s still at same place but with some addition and some missing features. Comm now can be expanded to the top of the page and this is quite useful  There are 3 tabs, automated, public and faction. Automated is all the Ingress notification, deploying resonators, destroying, decaying, and so on… The public chat is completely filtered from all the automated ingress reporting, and now even looks more useful. Last tab is faction and it only displays messages from your faction.

One improvement in the COMM is that links now are clickable. One missing feature is global switch. So if you want to see global comm, you will need to zoom out quite a lot.

Lets switch to most interesting part of plugin, the right sidebar where most of the player and portal info is displayed.

Features:

  • feels faster. (Likely because leaflet is faster, although there are some other tricks.)
  • full view of portal images
  • better chat
    • separated automated/public/faction
    • only showing the last automated message for each user. Makes a great “where are they now” guide.
    • nick tab completion
    • clickable links
  • automatic idle resume
  • portal details get updated while portal is visible on map
  • links to portals made easy (partly works with the vanilla map, too)
  • info porn. Everything with the help cursor has more info hidden in a tooltip.
  • may toggle portals/links/fields
  • hack range (yellow circle) and link range (large red circle) for portals. Click on the range link in the sidebar to zoom to link range.
  • double clicking a portal zooms in and focuses it
  • display of XM and AP rewards for redeemed passcodes by Dovahkiin

Special Decorations

Sometimes a portal will have an additional decoration on it to show that there is something special about it.

A small orange arrow displayed inside the portal indicates that it is the starting portal for a mission. (See the “Missions” section above.)

Portals holding one or more artifacts are displayed with a large highlight over the center. Selecting the portal will show which artifacts are present at that portal.

Target portals for artifact delivery have a segmented ring around them; the segments light up as more artifacts are delivered to them.

If an anomaly event is happening or is imminent in the area you are viewing and you are zoomed in close enough, the cluster portals will be decorated with rings around them called ornaments. Each cluster has a different ornament color, and the start point and volatile portals have additional decorations on them. (Note that volatile portals may or may not be revealed on the map, depending on the anomaly rules.)

A portal is displayed with additional decorations when there is a portal fracker (left) or a beacon (right) installed on it:

Terminology

For clarity, this guide defines the following terms:

  • Node: A worker machine in Kubernetes, part of a cluster.
  • Cluster: A set of Nodes that run containerized applications managed by Kubernetes. For this example, and in most common Kubernetes deployments, nodes in the cluster are not part of the public internet.
  • Edge router: A router that enforces the firewall policy for your cluster. This could be a gateway managed by a cloud provider or a physical piece of hardware.
  • Cluster network: A set of links, logical or physical, that facilitate communication within a cluster according to the Kubernetes networking model.
  • Service: A Kubernetes ServiceA way to expose an application running on a set of Pods as a network service. that identifies a set of Pods using labelTags objects with identifying attributes that are meaningful and relevant to users. selectors. Unless mentioned otherwise, Services are assumed to have virtual IPs only routable within the cluster network.

Ingres

Microsoft SQL Server.

(OpenIngres, Ingres II, Advantage Ingres).

GNU General Public License.

Postgres

The Ingress resource

A minimal Ingress resource example:

As with all other Kubernetes resources, an Ingress needs , , and fields.
The name of an Ingress object must be a valid
.
For general information about working with config files, see deploying applications, configuring containers, managing resources.
Ingress frequently uses annotations to configure some options depending on the Ingress controller, an example of which
is the rewrite-target annotation.
Different Ingress controller support different annotations. Review the documentation for
your choice of Ingress controller to learn which annotations are supported.

The Ingress
has all the information needed to configure a load balancer or proxy server. Most importantly, it
contains a list of rules matched against all incoming requests. Ingress resource only supports rules
for directing HTTP(S) traffic.

Ingress rules

Each HTTP rule contains the following information:

  • An optional host. In this example, no host is specified, so the rule applies to all inbound
HTTP traffic through the IP address specified. If a host is provided (for example,
foo.bar.com), the rules apply to that host.
  • A list of paths (for example, ), each of which has an associated
backend defined with a and a or
. Both the host and path must match the content of an
incoming request before the load balancer directs traffic to the referenced
    Service.
  • A backend is a combination of Service and port names as described in the
Service doc or a by way of a CRDCustom code that defines a resource to add to your Kubernetes API server without building a complete custom server.
. HTTP (and HTTPS) requests to the
Ingress that matches the host and path of the rule are sent to the listed backend.

A is often configured in an Ingress controller to service any requests that do not
match a path in the spec.

DefaultBackend

An Ingress with no rules sends all traffic to a single default backend. The is conventionally a configuration option
of the Ingress controller and is not specified in your Ingress resources.

If none of the hosts or paths match the HTTP request in the Ingress objects, the traffic is
routed to your default backend.

Resource backends

A backend is an ObjectRef to another Kubernetes resource within the
same namespace of the Ingress object. A is a mutually exclusive
setting with Service, and will fail validation if both are specified. A common
usage for a backend is to ingress data to an object storage backend
with static assets.

After creating the Ingress above, you can view it with the following command:

Path types

Each path in an Ingress is required to have a corresponding path type. Paths
that do not include an explicit will fail validation. There are three
supported path types:

  • : With this path type, matching is up to the
IngressClass. Implementations can treat this as a separate or treat
it identically to or path types.

  • : Matches the URL path exactly and with case sensitivity.

  • : Matches based on a URL path prefix split by . Matching is case
sensitive and done on a path element by element basis. A path element refers
to the list of labels in the path split by the separator. A request is a
match for path p if every p is an element-wise prefix of p of the
    request path.

Examples

Kind Path(s) Request path(s) Matches?
Prefix (all paths) Yes
Exact Yes
Exact No
Exact No
Exact No
Prefix , Yes
Prefix , Yes

Prefix No, does not match string prefix
Prefix , Yes, matches prefix
Prefix , , Yes, matches prefix
Prefix , , Yes, matches prefix
Prefix No, uses default backend
Mixed (Prefix), (Exact) Yes, prefers Exact

Multiple matches

In some cases, multiple paths within an Ingress will match a request. In those
cases precedence will be given first to the longest matching path. If two paths
are still equally matched, precedence will be given to paths with an exact path
type over prefix path type.

Intel/Map

It’s completely redefining whole user interface. Everything is made from the scratch. Map now have lot more layers, and not only ones from Google Maps. Now you have Open Street Map layers too, and by default you see the OSM layer and you can switch to one you want.

Other great feature is that you can select ingress object you want to see on the map: Portals, Links and Control Fields.

Portals are represented as circles – green, blue and orange. Links and fields are shown like on the original Intel. The feature that is removed is number of resonators that is around portal, and visually different portal levels (we wrote about them before) If you select a portal it turns its color to red and if you are close enough you can see an orange circle around it. It represents action range for that portal. Also if in field of view, there is a red circle around the portal that represents portal linking range. One more missing feature is zoom bar, for people who have scroll at mouse / touchpad this is not an issue. If you don’t have anything you could use ctrl + “+” or ctr + “-” to zoom in or out of map.

Other Features

The comm panel is found at the lower-left. It works just like the one in the scanner app, with the exception that there is no range slider. Instead a checkbox allows you to filter chatter and agent actions to just those which occurred within your current map view. Only agents who are at least level 8 can send comm messages from the intel map.

At the upper-left you’ll see your agent name, current level, the amount of XM you have and the total capacity of your reserves. Hovering over the level octagon will show you how much AP you have, and how much you need for the next level.

Across the top are several additional tools and links:

  • Clicking on “Social” displays links to the official Ingress Facebook and Twitter sites, as well as the Ingress community forums.
  • Next to that is a link that will pop up a window showing the latest epsiode of the Ingress Report, an Ingress news program from the official Ingress YouTube channel. (Note that as of this writing, the Ingress report has been on hiatus for several years due to the death of its host, Susanna Moyer.)
  • Below this is the total global mind unit score, just like on the intel tab of the ops screen. Below that is the regional score panel, which you can click to expand to see more scoring details for the current cell, including the precise scores at each checkpoint, the top three agents, and the time remaining until the next checkpoint.
  • On the right is a search box where you can type in location names to go to that location on the map. Note that this is powered by the same search used by Google Maps; portal names may or may not work here.
  • Above the search box are three additional items. The leftmost one is labeled “Passcode.” You can click on it to show a field where you can enter passcodes for redemption.
  • Next is the “Link” icon: this shows you a web address that you can share so that others can see the same intel map view. If you have a portal selected on the intel map, that portal will be selected automatically when people follow the link. The link will also include your planned links. (If you have more than 40 planned links visible, only the 40 most recent will be shown.)
  • Lastly is the email address associated with account you use for Ingress. Clicking on it shows a pulldown menu that lets you sign out, view the privacy policy, or visit the Ingress Help site.
